2nd Aurus Senat Cabriolet rolls off the factory lines

Russian enterprise FSUP NAMI has produced another Aurus Senat Cabriolet against the order of an anonymous private client. Like the first vehicle produced last fall, this one comes painted dark blue.

The Cabriolet has a Senat S600 saloon chassis at its base and therefore measures 5,630 millimeters (18.47 ft.) long. Unlike the saloon, though, it only has two doors and sports an original carbon fiber body. The roof, which was designed by Finland-based Valmet Automotive, automatically folds and unfolds within 30 seconds.

Since the model hasn’t gone through the full certification yet, it ships with its own package of documents making it street-legal in Russia. Rumor has it that the client who ordered it is a minister, but details are lacking.

This brings the total number of Aurus convertibles manufactured thus far to five, including the three ordered by the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense (watch the video for more info) and the two made for private clients.

Like the saloon it is based upon, the Aurus Senat Cabriolet packs a 4.4-liter V8 rated at 598 hp (446 kW), mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The drive stays on the rear axle by default, but the car supports part-time AWD.

Since the company primarily designed these cars for military parades, they even feature a special driving mode called Parade. Once activated, it caps the top speed at 20 km/h (12.4 mph) and softens the suspension as much as possible to make crawling over the cobblestones of the Moscow Red Square more tolerable.
