Mxtrem fantasizes about a wild C8 Corvette body kit

Mxtrem, a newborn tuning company from Europe, says it will be making 12 examples of a crazy body kit that turns the latest Chevrolet Corvette into a fighter jet for the road. We have our reservations, though.

But let’s take a look at the kit first. It’s called the Maverick and radically transforms the exterior of any Chevy it is applied to (Stingray, E-Ray and Z06 are all listed as supported). Intricate angular bumpers at both ends, a host of extra air intakes and vents, aviation-inspired wings and wheel arches – it is nothing if not eye-catching. There are even two upright fins at the rear end that make the car look like an F/A-18 Hornet. Note also the fake missiles at the front corners and twin thrusters at the back.

Styling runs rampant in the cabin as well, with a yoke-shaped steering wheel and missile controls on the transmission tunnel where cup holders used to be. We don’t know if the powertrain stays stock or not, and there is no mention of the pricing.

There are a few alarm bells worth taking note of. First, Mxtrem calls itself a new company made up from people with “over 20 years of experience” designing and fabricating carbon-fiber body kits. It only launched its social media pages this week and still hasn’t specified its address or even just country of residence (“Europe” is vague). We still haven’t heard a single name behind the project, either.

In other words, proceed with care if you are serious about ordering this unhinged ‘Vette kit.
