Car Tuning

Check out the Suburbalade, an unlikely offspring of two different cars

West Coast Customs (WCC), a renowned tuning company known for supplying U.S. celebrities with luxury rides, has rolled out something entirely special – a cross between an old GMC Suburban and a modern Cadillac Escalade. The Suburbalade, if you would.

The modern SUV donated its chassis to the build, while the Suburban supplied the body. But as you can easily guess, the two don’t have nearly the same dimensions – in fact, the Escalade is gargantuan compared to the classic car. To work around, WCC had to cut and modify the body extensively, widening the fenders a lot and stretching the panels that didn’t fit. It must have taken thousands of hours of work, but the result looks like something that could have rolled off an assembly line many decades ago.

Just as much attention and care went into designing the interior, which ended up with diamond-stitched ivory leather covering the seats and ivory/brown smooth leather on most other surfaces. A radio with a display on the center console dilutes the retro aesthetic somewhat, but that’s what a restomod is, by definition – a fusion of the classic and the modern.

As far as we understand, the Suburbalade gets its power from the Escalade’s stock 427ci (7.0-liter) engine rated at 426 PS (420 hp / 313 kW). WCC never mentioned the price of the build, but if you have to ask, chances are you needn’t bother asking.
