Car Tuning

This Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is the ultimate attention magnet

The posh Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren has never been about understatement, but LA-based tuner S Club managed to heat it up to ridiculous levels.

To achieve this look, the company designed a body kit of 30 components. The car ended up with fenders widened by 254 mm (10 inches), a low-slung front splitter, a racing-grade rear wing and a matching diffuser, among other things. A bold red stripe made its way onto the hood, and the whole interior was retrimmed with matching Alcantara. Strategically placed carbon fiber accents rounded off the wild look.

The engine supposedly stayed stock, but S Club tweaked the aerodynamics a bit by replacing the windshield with two smaller-sized deflectors. The rear end received matching shrouds to help the air flow around the car. Last but not least, an extra roll bar was installed longitudinally over the cabin, resembling the Halo safety system used in modern F1 racecars.

We suspect that Là SLR – this is what the speedster is called – was inspired by the AMG GT-S Speedlegend conversion from several years ago. S Club didn’t mention the costs involved.
