Tata’s Avinya X Concept envisions a fully electric future

The Indian automaker positions the Avinya X as a next-generation premium electric vehicle.

It features a curved roof gently sloping towards the rear end, matrix LED headlights, fairly large wheels, flush door handles and an active aero kit. The main body color, Samudra, is said to have been inspired by ocean waves.

The interior is a luxury lounge with four seats and eco-clean upholstery. We only have these 3D renderings of it thus far – no actual photos. The climate vents in the dash are concealed, and there is a single, thin ultrawide display running across it. A more traditional infotainment display resides below. The rear row houses two individual seats.

Tata remains tight-lipped about powertrain details. In an earlier announcement, it said it would produce all premium EVs on a new architecture called EMA, which it co-designed with its subordinate company JLR. As for the name “Avinya”, Tata envisioned it as a standalone vehicle brand. The first concept car by that name debuted around three years ago and looked nothing like the Avinya X Concept seen here.

With the EV market in a slump, it remains to be seen how the future of the brand will play out.
