Meet Touring Aero 3, a new Berlinetta inspired by 1930s-era Alfa Romeos

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has shared photos of an all-new model it has been working upon: the Touring Aero 3. The replica strives to imitate the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Speciale Tipo Le Mans that took part in the 24-hour endurance race back in 1938 (see video).

The coachbuilder makes no mention of the donor vehicle, but it looks like the 8C Competizione. The replica boasts a vivid red paintjob, originally styled wheels, and what looks like an efficient aerodynamic kit. It comes powered by a 4.7-liter V8 rated at 450 hp (336 kW) and 480 Nm (356 lb-ft) of torque.

On a historical note, the original B Speciale never showed its full potential, winding up with a flat tire and then a broken valve mechanism during the race, which put its 2.9-liter eight-cylinder temporarily out of order. Even despite all these shortcomings, the racecar No. 19 managed to outrun the competition by over 150 kilometers.
