The FAW-Toyota joint venture has come to this year’s Guangzhou Motor Show with a major Corolla facelift, unveiling a car that’s slightly larger than its predecessor and supports a new engine. Sales in China will begin in December, AutoHome.cn reports.
The new Chinese-spec Corolla is 4,710 mm (184 inches) long, 1,780 mm (69.5 inches) wide and 1,435 mm (56 inches) tall with 2,750 mm (107.4 inches) between the axles. As such, it boasts a 50mm (2-inch) extension in the wheelbase department and should be more comfortable for taller people to sit in.
On the exterior side of things, Toyota made sure to bring the new Corolla in line with its other recent releases, adding slim C-shaped daytime running lights and a more modern-looking bumper with vertical air intakes and integrated headlights. The rear end was largely left alone, and the same can be said about the interior with its 8.8-inch digital dash screen and 12.9-inch main display.
Like before, you can purchase the car with a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 98 PS (97 hp / 72 kW) in conjunction with an electric drivetrain. However, there’s also a new 2.0-liter engine option capable of 171 PS (169 hp / 126 kW). Further details should be revealed soon.
