Mercedes-Maybach S-Class dials up luxury with new options

While Mercedes surely isn’t in a hurry to reveal the engine lineup of the new Maybach S-Class, it still wants us to know what we can pay for to make the opulent executive saloon even more spectacular.

The paid options list now includes a 3D digital dashboard, an infotainment system screen illuminated by organic LEDs, natural wood finish, seats that recline as far back as 43.5º, twin cup holders for the second row with heating and cooling built in, slide-out tables, and a mini-fridge.

For those with strong opinions on how the rear doors of their car should open and how they shouldn’t, the Stuttgart automaker offers a choice from seven different rear door mechanisms. The second seat row can be fitted with individual lighting, and animated ambient lights are also on the list. Finally, the rear seat passengers are eligible for their own frontal airbags.

Wrapping up the long list are digital headlights based on micro-mirror projector tech, an SAE Level 3 self-driving system, and active hydro-pneumatic suspension.
