Toyota Fortuner cosplays as a one-off track weapon

A rather original take on the Toyota Fortuner SUV hit the spotlight at a motor show in Bangkok, Thailand this weekend. The local office of Toyota Customizing & Development Asia turned the body-on-frame vehicle into a track tool named Hyper-F. It will forever remain a one-off.

Compared to the standard Fortuner model, the Hyper-F looks much bolder owing to a sophisticated aerodynamic kit. It comprises a large front bumper with a splitter, a hood cover with air intakes, bold fender flares and side sills, among other things. The rear end keeps up with the rest of the body, sporting a massive spoiler and a diffuser. All custom body panels are made of composites, and the wheels are a custom order, too.

In its stock guise, the Fortuner offers three seat rows for up to seven passengers. The Hyper-F trades the standard seats for just four individual racing buckets. Toyota briefly mentions an upgraded powertrain and reduced ride height, but provides no further details.

If you were looking to buy a sported-up Fortuner in Thailand, your best bet would be the spec called GR Sport. While nowhere as extreme as the off-roader seen here, It still packs a 2.8-liter turbo diesel sending 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) to the wheels with 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of peak torque.
