Tesla silently pulls Cybertruck range extender option from the list

When presenting the Cybertruck, Tesla CEO promised to release a range extender some time down the line, but it never arrived.

While most automakers these days prefer extending the range by adding a petrol engine acting as a power generator, Tesla simply opted for a larger battery pack. It was supposed to reside in the bed, taking up space but adding an estimated 193–209 km (120–130 miles) to the total range. It was listed on the manufacturer’s website for an estimated $16,000, and visitors could place a preorder with an advance payment of $2,000.

As of April 9, the extended battery pack is still not in production, and Tesla seems to have silently removed it from the Cybertruck configurator.
