600-hp, turbo’d E46 BMW M3 crops up on sale

The E46 generation of the BMW M3 coupe has always enjoyed an iconic status, partially so for its great 3.2-liter naturally aspirated inline-six engine. However, that same engine lent itself well to modifications, tempting some owners to turbocharge it. The Laguna Seca Blue M3 seen here is one of them.

In case you forgot, the stock E46 M3 was manufacturer-rated at 333 PS (328 hp / 245 kW) and 355 Nm (262 lb-ft) of torque. Once fitted with a large turbocharger and a sports exhaust system, it started sending roughly 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) to the wheels working off regular ON91 gasoline. When fueled with premium ON100 gas, the owner says it can output up to 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW). The six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive were left stock.

Making this particular M3 better is the fact that it’s a sleeper. Aside from the low stance, you wouldn’t be able to tell it from stock. Things get more interesting in the cabin with  heated and power-adjustable front seats, grey Nappa leather, a modern audio setup and a smart HVAC. The mileage is no joke at 172,000 km (107,000 miles), however.

The bidding is at $22,000 at the moment of writing and a day left on the auction clock.
