Tesla dissolves its entire Supercharger team, fires multiple execs

Several Tesla Inc. executives left the company within two weeks, Reuters reports citing Elon Musk saying the automaker needed strict staff cuts. Rebecca Tinucci, the boss of the Supercharger division, got a leave alongside nearly 500 of her employees.

Among other top management figures who have resigned lately are Daniel Ho, the person responsible for new vehicle development, Allie Arebalo, HR Director, Drew Baglino, Senior VP for Powertrains, and Rohan Patel, Senior Global Director of Public Policy and Business Development.

The electric carmaker also reportedly fired around 500 employees from its Supercharger division. Musk commented on the action, saying that the company remained committed to expanding its charging station network but would have to take things slower moving forward, prioritizing trouble-free operation around the clock. Rather than introduce new Supercharger outlets, the company will focus on optimizing and future-proofing its existing stations.

Multiple car manufacturers selling their electric vehicles in the United States have previously agreed to adopt Tesla’s universal charging standard. It remains to be seen how they react to the news. According to Teslarati, Ford and General Motors have already confirmed that they were aware of work cuts at Tesla but didn’t see how it would impact their plans.
