Ford Mustang sprouts a sexagenarian edition

The Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary Edition will be released in a batch limited to 1965 units (referencing the first year of production) based on the GT Premium trim with extra bells and whistles thrown in.

These include a special set of 20-inch wheels sporting a nostalgia-inducing retro look, a matching radiator grille and custom body graphics found on the first-generation ‘Stangs. The headlights are darkened, the side mirrors sport silver housings, and there is a commemorative badge in the cabin.

Buyers can choose from only three exterior colors – white, red and blue, and three trim colors – grey, red and black. Regardless of other choices, the engine bay will be occupied by a 5.0-liter V8 rated at 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW). Transmission options boil down to six-speed manual and ten-speed automatic.

All pricing will be revealed closer to the launch at the end of the year.
