U.S. Ford Mustang scalpers crank prices up to 200% and beyond

With the Ford Mustang currently enjoying a complete monopoly in the “pony car” segment, dealerships in the United States don’t think twice before profiteering off its limited supply.

For instance, buying a brand-new Ford Mustang Dark Horse can cost you anywhere between $90,000 and $125,000 right now, despite the manufacturer-recommended minimum price of just $60,000. The standard V8-packing Mustang GT is barely better off with prices firmly in the $65,000–70,000 range despite a $43,000 MSRP.

When the automaker just announced the $325,000 Mustang GTD, many found the pricing insane for this vehicle class. Even though it may pack supercar amounts of power, the GTD is still a muscle car by design. Well, with the recent price hikes across the entire Mustang range, that sticker may no longer look too crazy in comparison.
