45 sq. m. of leather went into this Range Rover restomod

Vinile, an Italy-based automotive startup and would-be luxury restorer, has unveiled its first project. It’s a Range Rover Classic with a splendid cabin, near-stock engine and a hefty €280,000 price tag before options.

Exterior changes are few and far between, but the result looks nice and clean while staying true to the original aesthetic. A nice personal touch comes in the form of a black band with a yellow outline on both front doors – it livens up the otherwise monotonous exterior styling.

The cabin is where things truly get exciting. Vinile claims it had used more than 45 square meters (484 square feet) of fine leather and suede from Baxter for the trim. Combined with poplar root wood accents, it creates a truly unique ambience in the Range Rover. Occupants will also appreciate having a Sony multimedia system on board with a 10.1-inch screen, two different standards of USB ports, and an audio setup comprising 10 satellite speakers, 3 Rockford amps and 2 Focal subwoofers.

The engine makes do with only minor modifications. Vinile says it works with all powertrains found in the Range Rover Classic series, but the example seen here has been boosted from 167 PS (165 hp / 123 kW) to roughly 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW).

The project SUV will be exhibited for everyone to see at the Milano Design Week tomorrow, April 11th.
