Aston Martin postpones EV plans once again

The first Aston Martin electric supercar won’t be coming anytime soon, CEO Adrian Hallmark indirectly admitted.

The British company had originally planned to release the super-EV in 2021 under the revived Lagonda brand. The premiere has been postponed multiple times since then, and has yet to take place.

The last time we heard from Aston Martin, it planned to launch sales in 2027. Speaking in a recent interview, Hallmark refused to confirm the year and said that the company would try to get the EV out sometime “in this decade”, but gave no estimates when.

He also spoke enthusiastically about the ways the engineering department tried to make the electric car more appealing to traditional drivers. Apparently, the company is seriously considering installing special vibrator drives all around the car body to imitate the way a classic supercar vibrates from having a combustion engine and transmission. These tricks may not be for everyone, but they can increase driving immersion and enjoyment, Hallmark says.

Last but not least, he hinted that the EV may get powertrain components from U.S. electric car startup Lucid.
