BMW dreams about a deluxe X7 for Japan

The Japanese division of BMW has introduced the X7 Nishiki Lounge, a design study that won’t go on sale but will be exhibited for everyone to see at the company’s new Tokyo dealership on February 10 – March 3, 2025.

BMW doesn’t offer two-color finish options for this model in Japan, but this one combines a deep blue bottom part with a silver top. Swarovski crystals in the headlights certainly lend it a luxury touch.

Inside, the dashboard features an intricate motif in the national technique known as “goshiki gingasane”. Japanese artisans apply these ornaments using different kinds of tinfoil and lacquer. The armrest at the front wears a special cover hand-woven from threads and leather strands. Kasuri mats on the floor are also hand-woven from as many of seven kinds of twisted yarn, each thread made up from five differently colored strands.

Perhaps in an attempt to outperform Rolls-Royce, BMW put as many as 15,000 LEDs on the ceiling for a “starry sky” effect.
