Novelties
The two Chinese companies have teamed up on bringing the new electric vehicle brand – Hycan – onto the market.
The Hycan 007, which enters production today, will initially ship in three trim versions: Base, Plus, and Top. The former comes equipped with a 73-kWh battery sufficient for up to 523 kilometers (325 miles) of uninterrupted driving, while the other two boast larger 93-kWh batteries promising up to 643 km (400 miles) of range. All values are NEDC-rated.
The powertrain specs are being kept secret, but it is official that the Hycan 007 sprints from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in between 7.9 and 8.2 seconds.
The production car appears almost identical to its concept version shown on the video, even the slide-out door handles are still there. The LED DRLs and wheel spoke patterns boast number ‘7’-like shapes.
The novelty has three displays inside, including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a same-sized digital dashboard, and a versatile touch panel for adjusting seats, accessing climate control, and using a number of other in-car functions. An AI-powered voice assistant resides under the windshield.
The car is 4,879 millimeters (16 feet) long, 1,937 mm (6.35 ft.) wide and 1,680 mm (5.51 ft.) tall with 2,919 mm (9.58 ft.) between the axles and 150 mm (5.8 inches) of road clearance. The tires can be either 245/55 R19 or 245/50 R20, and the curb weight varies between 1,920 kg (4,233 lbs) and 2,030 kg (4,475 lbs).
Charging the battery from 30% to 80% takes between 6 and 8 hours from a household socket, but a high-power station manages the same in 33-35 minutes. The vehicle is SAE Level 2 autonomous, which means it has cruise control and lane control features.
Two even higher trim specs of the Hycan 007 will emerge next year, called Starship and Supreme. Nothing is being revealed about these right now. The former will be limited to just 500 production units, while the latter will be assembled against custom orders only.
