4th-gen Skoda Fabia shows up on sketches

Skoda will introduce the fourth generation of its Fabia compact in May, and here are some official doodles of it to tide you over.

The pics reveal completely new LED-based headlight and taillight designs, the brake lights being much broader than the old ones. You can also judge overall body proportions based on the images, but note that they are rough drafts with such details as side mirrors and door handles missing.

The new Fabia will make use of the unitized architecture known as MQB-A0 and will get a more spacious cabin than its predecessor. It is expected to get a number of petrol engines rated between 65 and 150 PS (64 – 148 HP; 48 – 110 kW). The top spec will likely include a 1.5-liter turbo and a DSG transmission. The drag ratio will drop from 0.32 to just 0.28 Cx.

Sales in Europe are expected to begin in the second half of the year, and the Combi version (estate/wagon) should follow in two years’ time.
