The Chevy Corvette Cabrio is this year’s Indy 500 safety car

As you may remember, Covid-19 was the cause the 104th Indianapolis 500 ended up postponed until August 23, 2020, but the race did take place after all, with Chevrolet’s C8 Corvette Stingray in the role of a safety car. This year’s pace car will be another C8, without the roof this time around.

The 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible will accompany the racers on the Memorial Day, Sunday, May 30, 2021. It will wear a special reflective décor and assorted decals, as well as extra lights as per the regulations.

Chevrolet’s partnership with the Indy 500 is not a one-off deal: the car4 company signed an exclusive pace car and special vehicle supply contract with the race organizer, according to which it will continue to provide such services for years to come.
