Chevrolet Corvette Z06 debuts with better chassis and drivetrain, ships in mid-2022

The new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is here with improved suspension and what its creators claim to be the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine in history. The car needs 2.6 seconds for its 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) exercise.

Starting with the heart of everything, the new 5.5-liter V8 is made almost entirely out of aluminum and can rev up to 8,600 RPM. At 670 U.S. horsepower (679 PS / 500 kW) and 623 Nm (460 lb-ft) of torque, it is 174 hp (176 PS / 129 kW) more powerful than the standard ‘Vette. An eight-speed DCT with pre-selection sports revised gear ratios.

Even in its most basic form, the car takes advantage of adaptive shock absorbers and six-piston Brembo calipers (carbon-ceramic brakes are optional). The track gains 30 mm (1.2”) at the front and 40 mm (1.6”) in the back, and the car is 94 mm (3.67”) wider overall than the standard Corvette.

On the outside, there is a new front bumper, redesigned side air intakes, quad exhaust tips and wheels sized 20 and 21 inches in diameter. Paying extra unlocks an impressively sized front splitter, a rather novel-looking rear wing, even stiffer suspension springs and carbon wheels that help lose another 18.6 kilograms (41 pounds) compared to the standard wheel set. The interior is awash with carbon details (note the wheel especially) and red leather.

The production is set to begin in the summer of 2022, and all prices are pending.
