Rare Ferrari set to go for $7M

An exotic Ferrari 250 GT LWB will go on sale in August, expected to fetch up to 6-7 million USD. Only 77 such cars was made in the late 1950s, including only 18 Series III units like this one.

This model year 1957 example is widely considered one of the best preserved in the world, explaining the exceptionally high price.

After winning three Tour de France endurance races in a row in 1956-1958, the long-wheelbase 250 GT model was nicknamed after that racing series. The car sports three easily recognizable air intakes, impressively sized fins and originally styled 'recessed' headlights.

Power originally came from a V12 Colombo engine rated at 240-260 metric horsepower. The current rating is not mentioned in the listing. The car took part in professional racing events in its first years after production, its owner having won multiple prize places across Europe.

The coupe underwent a thorough restoration in this millennium, which was finalized by its current owner and seller. It comes with a Ferrari Classiche certificate to show for being completely stock and authentic.

Ferrari made the original 250 model from 1952 until 1964. The 250 GTO is now the world's most expensive car on the aftermarket. In 2018, one example went under the hammer for $48,000,000. It is also officially recognized as an automotive work of art.
