Chery refreshes its affordable CUV for China’s youth

Kaiyi, an automotive sub-brand owned by Chery, has revealed the parameters and pricing of the 2023 Xuanjie crossover utility vehicle. The car received exterior and cabin updates along with new multimedia features.

Customers in China can buy the 4.4-meter-long car for 64,900 Yuan, but ticking all boxes raises the bar to 80,900 Yuan. Compared to the pre-facelift version from last year, the new Xuanjie boasts a redesigned radiator grille, a different front bumper and new headlights. The rear end stays the same, but the company mentions a more ergonomic trunk.

The cabin makes use of quality trimming materials, enhanced noise insulation and textured surfaces. Like before, the das displays stay 10.5 inches large, but the infotainment system benefits from a range of improvements, like voice command support.

On the technical side of things, the car still makes use of its old 116-PS (114-hp / 87-kW) engine that produces up to 143 Nm (105 lb-ft) of torque and hooks up with five-speed manual and variable transmissions. The only upgrade in the technical department is a new comfort-oriented suspension tune.
