Official: 2nd-gen Fiat 500e coming to the USA

Following up on multiple teasers released earlier this week, Fiat has officially confirmed that the second generation of the all-electric 500e hatchback will be sold in the United States – just not as soon as many of us would like.

Specifically, speaking at the Los Angeles Auto Show, a representative of the marque said the car would debut at the same show next year and go on sale in the first quarter of 2024.

This means we still have a year until we see what the US-spec Fiat 500e looks like. For the time being, the carmaker has unveiled three one-off show cars allegedly symbolizing the ‘three souls’ of the model number 500. Dubbed the Giorgio Armani, Kartell, and Bvlgari, they are said to represent ‘sustainable design, sustainable fashion and sustainable luxury’, in that specific order.

It is still too early to speculate whether the 500e will be different between the States and the Old World. In Europe, Fiat sells the electric hatchback with a single front-axle motor good for 117 PS (115 hp / 86 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. Abarth will be unveiling a high-end version of it on Tuesday, November 22, and we would imagine that version to be the main candidate for the U.S. exports.
