Tesla Model S Plaid reclaims Nürburgring championship

The three-motor Plaid spec of the Tesla Model S has once again been recognized as the fastest production EV on the North Loop after covering the entire 20.8-kilometer-long track in 7 minutes 25.231 seconds. The company posted photos and videos from the site.

The electric liftback with 1,034 PS (1,020 hp / 761 kW) at its disposal set the original record in September 2021, lapping up the ‘Ring at an average acceleration of 165 km/h (102.5 miles per hour). It crossed the finish line 7 minutes 35.58 seconds in. In August last year, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S dethroned it with the result of 7:33.35.

The record-breaking Model S Plaid took advantage of an optional package called Track, which the manufacturer started offering in May. It includes Zero-G forged wheels, Goodyear Supercar 3R tires and carbon-ceramic brakes. The top speed is capped at 322 km/h, or 200 mph, for this version. The example in the video also had a normal steering wheel installed instead of a yoke like its predecessor had.
