R34 Nissan GT-R completes a quarter-mile run in under 8 seconds

Australia is a country famous for its extreme tuning scene, and B2R Motorsport has just upheld that honor by racing an old-generation Nissan GT-R to a new world record.

The car no longer has its stock 2.6-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo under the hood, instead rocking a purpose-built 3.4-liter unit assisted by a massive turbocharger and a plethora of racing internals. The output to the wheels exceeds 1,800 horsepower (1,325 kW).

At a recent festival in Sydney, the monstrous Godzilla lapped up the 402-meter-long track in 7.93 seconds, setting an absolute record among manual GT-R models. It then went on to improve that time to 7.6 seconds, although unofficially, the tuner adds. Either way, that’s hugely impressive considering that even the Bugatti Chiron needs 9.4 seconds for its quarter-mile run.
