Multiple media are reporting that Citroen was so impressed with the market success of the revived Renault 5 hatchback, it decided to bring its own 2CV model back – with modifications, of course.
According to L’Argus reporting from France, this isn’t about the design. Citroen simply wants to have a very modest-looking, very affordably priced model on the lineup once again. Some 25 years ago, the French automaker did attempt to resurrect the 2CV along with its styling cues, and it wasn’t a particularly successful attempt. This time around, the company thinks along the lines of bringing back the nameplate and the low price tag – and that’s it.
Even if the project gets greenlit, the car reportedly won’t arrive until 2028. It is also conceived as an all-electric urban vehicle, so don’t expect an ICE version.
