All-new JAC iEV6E goes on sale in China

JAC has launched China sales of its all-new five-door electric car, the iEV6E. Two variants are immediately available for purchase, the performance-conscious Sport and the family-oriented Upgrade.

On the outside, design differences between the two boil down to the radiator grille, the bumpers and the headlamps. The interiors have different color schemes, seat layouts, and seat upholstery.

There are some under-the-hood peculiarities, too. Both vehicles ship with the same electric engine which delivers up to 215 Nm (159 lb·ft) of torque in the Sport version, but only 200 Nm (148 lb·ft) in the Upgrade version. The sportier of the two can also travel up to 310 kilometers (193 miles) on a single charge, while the other one won’t be getting any farther than 255 km (158 mi).

Finally, both vehicles come equipped with a “hovering” seven-inch touchscreen display with the Baidu Carlife app. The app has numerous features and can help you locate your ride on the parking lot or warm up the engine beforehand when it’s cold outside.

The JAC iEV6E Sport costs the equivalent of U.S. $10,000. The JAC iEV6E Upgrade comes $1,000 cheaper than that.
