Chevy Corvette ZR1 outruns expectations

The latest Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 packing a twin-turbo V8 and 1,079 PS (1,064 hp / 794 kW) is the fastest car ever produced by General Motors.

At a presentation event this summer, the engineering team behind the project ventured a guess that the supercar would be able to reach 215 miles per hour, which corresponds to 346 km/h. However, test drivers have repeatedly been able to take it to 230 mph (370 km/h) since then.

Now, the car made an official lap of the Papenburg track in Germany, surpassing every expectation with the peak acceleration registered at 233 mph (375 km/h).

Sales start in 2025.
