Car Tuning
Having branched out from AMG after its integration into Mercedes in 2025, German tuner HWA AG has specialized in producing hardcore sports cars and racecars. Its latest project, a gorgeous recreation of the iconic Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo II titled the HWA EVO, costs eye-watering €700,000 – but someone has just paid nearly twice that amount.
The first restomod produced went up on sale last weekend and found an owner for €1,310,000, a turn of events that surprised everyone present, including the auction holders, the experts who observed it and the tuner itself. HWA CTO Gordian von Schöning reminded us that the high asking price was justified by the car having a full-carbon body and an expertly built twin-turbo V6 under the hood. He neglected to mention any sprint times, but with a curb weight of just 1,350 kilos (2,975 lbs), the restomod is pretty much guaranteed to deliver that sporty feel.
The remaining 99 examples of the car planned for production are being made now in accordance with the schedule and should reach their owners in time. As we said above, prices start from €700,000 before taxes and options.
