Check out a shortened, lightweight Ram 1500 off-roader

Many pickup buyers complain about automakers prioritizing cab size over bed size these days, ending up with huge but not-so-practical trucks. But as this ruthlessly chopped-up example suggests, some drivers couldn’t care less about “utility” in “utility vehicle”.

The images are courtesy of Shaune, a car mechanic from Florida. His idea was to stylize a Ram 1500 after the Jeep Wrangler JL while also improving its off-road capabilities. He sourced many components for the build from the official Wrangler catalog, cut the fenders a fair bit, and inserted a LED bar in the gap between the grille and the hood.

As wild as these modifications are, they pale in comparison to what happened to the rear end. Shaune nearly halved it in size, arguing that he could use a better departure angle. He also put beadlock-protected wheels into the arches, lifted the suspension by 2 inches (51 mm) and installed a snorkel for wading water. The interior and the drivetrain stayed stock.

How do you like this “Ramgler”?
