Nissan scales down production for the USA

The Japanese marque has encountered difficulties finding buyers for its Rogue (a.k.a. X-Trail) and Frontier models in North America.

For the next two months, the factories assembling the crossover and the truck will be running a four-day week instead of their usual five-day work schedule. The combined production target for these two models won’t exceed 40,000 units.

While this decision may look sound at a glance, Nissan seems to be in a tricky situation right now. The Rogue and the Frontier account for roughly 40% of the company’s total sales in North America. As the same time, they have been selling poorly and sitting at dealership lots for months on end. If the trend continues, it will cost the company its market share.
