MG MGA gets a second lease on life

At the upcoming meeting of Goodwood Festival participants, Frontline Cars will introduce a restomod project based on the vintage MG MGA roadster from the 1950. The car painstakingly follows the style of the original while still benefiting from modern tech under the hood.

Preorders are already running with the customers choosing between coupe and roadster. Both are built on top of the original car, which is now over 70 years old. Needless to say, it gets completely restored and modernized with things like LED headlights. The company installs 15-inch wire-mesh wheels by default, but those looking to prioritize handling over aesthetics may opt for lightweight Dunlop alloys.

A 2.0-liter engine delivers 228 PS (225 hp / 168 kW) to the wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. Weighing barely over 800 kilograms (1,764 pounds), the car sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.8 seconds. It maxes out at 250 km/h (155 mph).

Should this be not enough, Frontline Cars has another engine option in stock – a 2.5-liter unit with 294 PS (290 hp / 216 kW). It cuts the sprint time down to 4.1 seconds, but the top speed stays unchanged.

The first shipments are expected in the summer of 2026.
