Eccentric 1970 Chevy Camaro “Endless Dream” sells under $20k

Back in the early 1970s, car enthusiast Ed Haney built a bizarre and over-the-top Chevrolet Camaro to participate in shows. The car ended up with not just one, but two superchargers, all-new bodywork and a velour-trimmed interior. It went on sale at no reserve the other day and ended up changing hands for a token sum of $18,250.

Built specifically for ISCA (International Show Car Association) events, Endless Dream always prioritized looks over substance. It wore a highly aggressive body kit with a fiery paint job on top, an aluminum radiator grille and high-gloss wheels. With tailpipes running down its sides and a ray-shaped rear spoiler, it looked more like an alien spaceship than a Camaro.

For all the exterior kitsch, the interior looked even more outlandish with its precious wood and velour trim. There are no dash gauges in view, but the center console houses an actual TV. The rear bench seat stretches the definition of “bench”, looking like it could accommodate a whole family. Then again, you wouldn’t want to transport a family on a basic belt-free seat like that.

The listing says the engine doesn’t run and needs a starter. The trim could also use a makeover, judging by some photos. It could explain why the winning bidder ended up paying less than twenty grand. Back in 2015, the same car cropped up for sale with a cool $150,000 tag attached. Unofficial reports claim it originally took north of $300,000 to build and had bespoke gilded accents, including both superchargers. It’s kind of hard to fact-check these claims with the photos being what they are, though.
