General Motors hopes for good relations with the new U.S. govt

The U.S. automaker says that, while its goals may not fully align with the politics of President-elect Donald Trump, it expects its interaction with the government to be efficient.

According to General Motors CEO Mary Barra, the previously announced barrier tariffs imposed on vehicles imported from Canada and Mexico will deal a heavy blow to the company. Despite this, the government and the automotive industry pursue the same goals, aiming for a strong domestic economy and a developed manufacturing sector. Working together on these goals should help them overcome temporary hurdles.

In her speech last weekend, Barra also emphasized the need to preserve jobs in North America.
