VW admits it has to cut costs on R&D
Speaking with the media, Volkswagen CTO Kai Grünitz let it slip that the company had been forced to save money on designing new cars lately.
By shrinking the development terms to just 30–36 months and reusing existing platforms, Volkswagen hopes to close the multi-billion gap that’s been growing in its budget.
Computer-based vehicle tests also help cut some corners on real-life test drives, Grünitz admitted.
