Porsche talks about the future of the 911
According to the sports car maker, the new 911 Turbo will be a hybrid vehicle when it reaches the showrooms in 2025.
As for the recently facelifted 911 GT3 (shown below), it may drop out of the lineup for good. The ever-stricter EU emission standards render its high-revving naturally aspirated engine no longer viable.
In earlier news, Porsche complained that it really didn’t see a way to make a hybrid powertrain work in a car as passionate as the GT3. What this means for us is that the model will either have to switch to a twin-turbo setup – reducing its appeal with the purists – or retire permanently.
