Early Lamborghini LM002 crops up for ~350k USD

A rare and elusive Lamborghini LM002 off-roader will cross the auction block in the UK tomorrow, June 12. It is said to be in excellent condition with low mileage despite having changed several owners. The seller hopes to get between £225,000 and £275,000 for it, which converts into U.S. $286,000–349,000.

The Italian automaker had made only a touch above 300 LM002 units in 1986–1993 (see video). This particular vehicle left the factory premises on March 24, 1988 and went to Sweden. It then returned to Italy and sat in a museum there until someone brought it into the Netherlands in 2015. A few years later, it travelled to the UK and received a round of maintenance from DK Engineering that cost more than £10,000.

The current owner had the car since 2017. It travelled to Kuwait and came back to the UK in 2023. Despite these extensive journeys across the globe, it ended up with only 17,273 km (10,733 miles) on the odo, which roughly corresponds to 480 km (300 miles) per year.

This LM002 comes painted in Acapulco Blue, rides on its standard Pirelli Scorpion BK tires, and features a white leather cabin with wooden décor. It also rocks a period-correct Alpine head unit plugged into Blaupunkt speakers. A 5.2-liter Countach V12 sends 444 PS (438 hp / 327 kW) to the wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, a transfer case, an on-demand AWD system and a lockable interaxle differential.
