Li Auto unveils the L9, its new range-extender flagship

For a long time now, Chinese automaker Li Auto only had one production car in its portfolio, a mid-size SUV called the One (see video). The company has now released official photos of its upcoming second model, the L9.

It would be difficult to find anything revolutionary in the exterior design. All in all, the car looks just like its predecessor except for two-tier headlights. The rear end in particular looks almost identical to that of the One. Where the L9 dares to be different is the door handles: they are concealed, rather than exposed.

Li Auto says the L9 is much larger than the One, but specific dimensions haven’t been revealed. Like the Nio ET5 and ET7, it has a LiDAR mounted on its roof for semi-autonomous driving.

The interior is modern and minimalistic. A 15.7-inch middle display functions as a dashboard and a multimedia touchscreen all at once. The front passenger gets another display to themselves, which is capable of playing back any multimedia content including user photos and videos. These two screens are merged in a single unit with a 3K resolution.

Powering the infotainment are dual Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 CPUs along with 24 gigabytes of RAM. The system has 256 GB of hard drive storage and supports 5G.

Little is known about the drivetrain except for the range (up to 200 km / 124 miles in all-electric mode, up to 1,000 km / 621 miles in hybrid mode). The premiere is set to take place at the Beijing Auto Show next month.
